Queen of the South Season 4 is out

The fourth season will see queen pin Teresa begin to build her empire in New Orleans, and remain focused on her sense of family.

Queen of the South has returned for season 4 on USA Network and was premiered on June 6. Here’s what you need to know about Queen of the South season 4.

There’s no question that Queen of the South has a new vibe as Teresa moves her empire to New Orleans. The drama from US cable network the USA is executive produced by David T. Friendly (Little Miss Sunshine), with the pilot from the writing team Joshua John Miller and Mark Fortin (Final Girls) and directed by the supremely talented Dane Charlotte Sieling, who was responsible for episodes of The Bridge and The Killing.

Queen of the South follows a small town Mexican woman named Teresa Mendoza (Alice Braga). She meets and falls in love with a drug-runner and gets swept up in the world of high stakes drug trafficking. Instead of being terrified by the risks involved — or turned off by the amorality – Teresa embraces it all fully. However, she soon finds herself on the run for her life after her lover is murdered. We know from the opening scene and the constant voice-overs that Teresa will not only survive these ordeals, but she will rise to the top of her own drug empire.

Based on a novel of the same name by Spanish author Arturo Perez-Reverte, the telenovela depicts the rise of Teresa Mendoza (Kate del Castillo), a young woman from Mexico who becomes the most powerful drug trafficker in southern Spain. The book is loosely based on the life of Mallory Chacon Rossell, who ran one of the largest narcotics and money laundering rings in Central America.

The series has portrayed how women can emerge as winners during difficult times and they should not be underestimated.
