This year has seen a lot of movie remakes from time to time and also the announcement of a couple of new ones, but at the top of remakes making headlines, we have The Lion King, which was an epic movie in the year 1994.
The film is very nostalgic for us the millennials since this is a movie we grew up with. It now features stars that we are very familiar with but the cinematography animation is more realistic way, ooh and let’s not even get into the soundtrack yet because that’s a whole story on its own.
A lot of people had mixed feelings about having the movie in the raw realistic format that it was presented because people saw that one could not be able to get facial expressions from the animals and that they did not feel a connection to them, but then the question comes in, how are the animals actually when it comes to seeing them in real life, they have stern faces most of the time and getting a facial expression from them is not so easy, it’s not like they have a spa day while in the wild, so you think that the movie was able to portray the truth of the matter and its hard for people to accept change but at the end of the day the raw format has to be presented .
First thing that made the movie amazing this year is the powerful cast starting from the queen herself Beyonce, Donald Glover, Seth Rogan, Chiwetel Ejiofor and so many more. We also can’t forget the iconic producer behind the film itself Jon Farvreau, who has also been part of other amazing movies in, the likes of The avengers end game and so many more.
Now, lets talk about the music that was in this times movie, we heard a few additions to the original film, but the ones that were sung by the new cast were so awesome and really great to listen to, especially the collaboration between Donald and Beyonce, the two iconic musicians of today’s world, I must just say that it was mind blowing to listen to them. We also had a release of a new album by Beyonce with is title gift which is meant for the African countries because it’s the representation of the movie, however much great intention was made with oil , it also got some backlash because it did not contain any artist from east Africa, which is in fact where the movie is based on and most of the language and reference was from here. However other than that the music was awesome and I do believe people should go out and watch the film and listen to the album .
At the end of the day, we do come to see that the movie is quite awesome with the new additions that were out in place, we still do have a good number of people asking whether the remake was necessary but at the end of the day I think it was as it gets a new audience of new viewers who will get the message that kits trying to share with its audience. At the end of the movie I would give it an 8/ 10 .
