The music emanating from Africa is record breaking in every sense with new sounds showcasing every form of creativity in an African perspective.

We are now seeing African artists take the global stage, literally, storming on to it with new music, introducing new sounds, genres, and energy, and educating the world on the true meaning of what being African is, without baggage, without the long-held views and regressive stereotypes.

There has been new pathways to success for African Artists who have taken everything from Amapiano to Afrobeats telling the African growth story in a creative aspect using decibels to capture the attention of people from cross the globe.

According to a report by Forbes Africa, more Grammy awards and nominations have continued to find a home on the continent from top music artists on the track offering nothing else but good music. Indeed the future of the African Music is big, bright and bountiful.

Forbes Africa highlighted top 20 African Musical artists with West and Southern Africa artists dominating the list of the top acts in the continent

To determine who made it to the list, Spotify monthly listeners, YouTube total average views and social media following to see how the artistes commanded numbers in the online platforms were used among other means.

From East Africa only two artistes made the cut both coming from Tanzania that is Diamond Platnumz and Rayvanny; Diamond is also among the highly paid artistes in the continent sitting on the same level with artists such as Burna Boy, Davido and Wizkid.

Three female musicians also appeared among the 20 top African musicians in the continent; five-time Grammy award winner Angélique Kidjo from Benin, Nigerian songstress and best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards Tiwa Savage and South African musical legend Yvonne Chaka Chaka.

FORBES AFRICA celebrated these 20 artists from across Africa (unranked and in no particular order), for their myriad ways they have demonstrated in ensuring time and again why Africa should be at the forefront of conversations when it comes to the global music and entertainment industry for the growth of the continent.
