Femi One Bags Best Female Rap Act At Afrimma Awards 2022
The African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) 2022 edition was aptly tagged ‘This is Africa” with an aim to further cement the legacy being created by the various talented African musicians.

Femi One has been crowned as the Best Female Rap Act of the year 2022 in the just concluded African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA)  in an event that went down in Texas Dallas.

Femi was up against South Africa’s Nadia Nakai, Nigeria’s Ms Banks, Candy Bleaks Sierra Leone’s Nata, Ghana’s Feli Nuna, Tanzania’s Rosa Ree and fellow Kenyan Fena Gitu.

The rapper took to social media to thank her team and funs for all the work and support they have put in throughout the years.

“We won!!! Best Female Rapper In Africa. The first East African Female rapper to take it home, it’s such a big pat on the back for my team and I for all the work we’ve put in throughout the years.”

She also went on to encourage upcoming rappers to keep going adding that there is a spot for them in the industry.

“This should be an encouragement for all the up-and-coming Female rappers! There is a spot for you in this industry, keep building, keep doing it, they are watching. Thank you all so much for the continued support.”

Kenyan rapper and CEO of Kaka Empire, King Kaka, congratulated Femi One on winning an award adding that the world was ready for her.

“I’ve seen you grow, I’ve seen you build, now the world is ready for you. Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you The Best Female Rapper in Africa @femi_one your story is a miracle, God Loves you. The Kaka Empire Team Big Up and everyone who made this possible,” he said.

The event for the awards went down on November 19 where three other East African artistes also walked away with awards.

Celebrated Tanzanian artist Zuchu won the award for the best female artiste in East Africa. Zuchu was contesting against Sheebah Karungi from Uganda, Jovial from Kenya, Maua Sama from Tanzania, Sanaipei Tande from Kenya, Nandy from Tanzania and Winnie Nwagi from Uganda.

“I’m actually very emotional right now because I spent the whole night crying yesterday because my show in Houston did not go as planned but God told me, we can always take failure as a lesson, as an upcoming artiste I’m just telling you guys this is not the end but actually the beginning of my journey,” she said.

Next Level Music president Rayvanny who in early November 2022 was feted at the Distinctive International Arab Festivals Award (DIAFA) took home the award for the best male artiste in East Africa after beating his former boss Diamond Platnumz, Khaligraph Jones from Kenya, Eddy Kenzo from Uganda and John Frogfrom South Sudan.

“I want to thank god, and my fans across the world, it was like a dream come through for me. I have so many awards but I was looking for this and finally, I got it.

“Finally I get this, thanks to AFRIMMA and the whole team. I just wanna dedicate this award to my East African fellow musicians. This is for us, we are one, and thanks AFRIMMA for the Award. I love you all,” said the Next Level Music boss.

Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB) boss, Diamond Platnumz was crowned as the Best Live Act in Africa.

The African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) 2022 edition was aptly tagged ‘This is Africa” with an aim to further cement the legacy being created by the various talented African musicians.

The 2021 edition was tagged “Flavors of Africa” and the virtual audience was thrilled with a thorough feast of the different flavors of African Music.

AFRIMMA 2022 ‘ This is Africa’ edition was deemed as the celebration of this time; the time is Africa’s time. The
world has catch up with the beauty and diversity of African sounds and the best thing to do is dish more out of the abundant pot of talents and cross more boundaries with African music. This is Africa!
