Renowned Kenyan actress Catherine Kamau better known as Kate Actress is set to be the lead character in Kenya’s romantic comedy Disconnect 2 which premieres on Netflix in December 2022.

An excited Kate Actress did not shy away from showing his excitement saying that she is happy to play a lead role in the film alongside Pascal Tokodi – something she has always wished for.

“Playing lead with Pascal Tokodi was a dream come true. Tosh Gitonga, What a stellar, Brenda Wairimu, Patricia Kihoro and Brian Ogola. Disconnect 2,” shared Kate Actress.

Pascal Tokodi joined the conversation saying; “We had so much fun making this one,” an indication that they did justice to the film.

Disconnect film first premiered in 2018 with Brenda Wairimu and Nick Mutuma as lead actors in season one, the two lead a diverse cast that explores the dating scene in Nairobi.

The movie is cast in English and Kiswahili and revolves around a group of single people who stumble through the wild dating scene of Nairobi as two friends wonder if their relationship is more than platonic.

It tells a story of a secret romantic attraction between the two best friends, Celine (played by Brenda Wairimu) and Josh (Nick Mutuma) and their closest friends in the Kenyan capital.

Celine has difficulty getting into the right kind of relationship and often relies on the advice and emotional support of her friends who include TK (Catherine Kamau), the crazy one Judy (Patricia Kihoro) the prayer warrior Robin (Pierra Makena) Celine’s sister and Preeti (Aseem Sharma) her co-worker and the fun one.

The romantic comedy film premiered first in 2018 starring Brenda Wairimu, Nick Mutuma, Patricia Kihoro, Pascal Tokodi, Catherine Kamau, Pierra Makena and Brian Ogola among others.

In October 2020, Disconnect became the third Kenyan movie to make it to Netflix – an international streaming platform but the list has now expanded with the release of other movies like Country Queen and Sincerely Daisy

Kate came into the limelight for her role in Citizen TV’s show dubbed Mother-in-Law where she played as Celina and has since featured in several local productions, including Sue na JoniePlan B and Disconnect, with the latter becoming the third Kenyan movie to premiere on Netflix after Sincerely Daisy and Poacher.
