Did you know that Netflix has been celebrating women this August month with films/series selections that star African women? Well now you are on the know.

The streaming giant is celebrating Happy Women’s Month with films and shows with female leads. Indeed the future is female and Netflix is out to prove it.

Kate actress and Netflix have been celebrating African women this month by giving priority to titles that put women at the forefront of the already competitive creative sector.

The actress and digital content creator is celebrating women alongside fellow African actresses including Nambitha Ben-Mazwi (Savage Beauty), Melissa Kiplagat (Country Queen) and many more for Netflix.

Kate stars in the movie Disconnect currently streaming on Netflix and features on the Never Late podcast streaming on Africa on Netflix YouTube channel.

The award winning actress was the only Kenyan to attend the Bridgerton affair hosted by the internet streaming service in South Africa. She also attended the Justice Served premiere alongside Kenyan actors Melvin Alusa, Blessing Lung’aho and Melissa Kiplagat.

This celebration follows news of Netflix greenlighting Kenya’s romantic comedy Disconnect 2 which has cast Kate in the lead role alongside Pascal Tokodi, Brenda Wairimu, Patricia Kihoro and Brian Ogola. Disconnect film became the third Kenyan movie to make it to Netflix in October 2020

“I have worked for that my whole life, that’s what I wanted to achieve. I felt honored and humbled”, she says of her new role. “I need to stop playing small, I deserve these things…We are definitely expecting more from the trip, more TV series and more collaboration with Netflix” said Kate.

Kate came into the limelight for her role in Citizen TV’s show dubbed Mother-in-Law where she played as Celina and has since featured in several local productions, including Sue na JoniePlan B and Disconnect, with the latter becoming the third Kenyan movie to premiere on Netflix after Sincerely Daisy and Poacher.

She is currently the brand ambassador for companies like Nice & Lovely, L’oreal and Harpic. In May this year she launched her own Lip Care brand called House of Humba.
