Award-winning Nigerian Afropop superstar, Mayorkun aka Mayor of Lagos is set to perform in Nairobi Ngong Racecourse on Saturday, July 23rd, 2022.
The high-flying music sensation has been riding high with his latest hit ‘Certified loner,’ and is set to land in the country on Friday ahead of his much-anticipated concert roaring into action this weekend.
The singer is expected to meet a fanbase that can’t wait to join him at the Waterfront Ngong Racecourse for a sizzling night of unbridled entertainment.
The Holy Father hitmaker will be performing alongside Sauti Sol’s Bien, Sol Generation’s Nvirii the storyteller and Jovial.
“Nairobi, Kenya! July 23rd. Tupo site…Tupo site. We are having a big party, cant wait to see you all,” tweeted Mayorkun. “I’m bringing Lagos to Kenya, shutting it down.” he added.
The singer was last in Kenya in 2017 and will be gracing the July 23rd event dubbed ‘Peace Edition’ organized by The Party Verse.
According to the event’s organizers, the event comes weeks before the country’s general election, hence the ‘peace edition’ concept to sensitize Kenyans on the need for a peaceful election process.
Speaking to the media ahead of the singer’s arrival, Party Verse Marketing Director Eve Ngami said the company is changing the game in the entertainment arena and also preaching peace ahead of the August 9 General Election.
“It is going to be a platform for African artists to engage as creatives and form mash-ups. It is going to be a platform where they can give an explosion of creativity, passion, and talent that is globally recognized and appreciated,” she said.
“It will also be a platform to preach peace to Nairobians and Kenyans at large seeing that we are in the election homestretch and a lot happens during the period before and after elections. Mayorkun is fully aware of the work ahead of him – entertain Kenyans and also bring a message of peace.”
“The Party Verse, see you guys on July 23rd at Ngong Racecourse for The Party Verse. An amazing lineup gonna be there and of course, the Bald man gonna be in the building, get your tickets and come party with me and amazing artistes,” Bien said.
Talking about the concert, Sol generation’s Nviiri the storyteller said; “On the 23rd July, you will be singing long of my music, Bien. We have Mayorkun at The Waterfront, Ngong Racecourse and the theme is peace and harmony in an event called The Party Verse to make sure you show up,”.
Mayorkun will be adding his name to the growing list of Nigerian artists and comedians who have performed in Kenya in 2022.
Some of the artists include Asake aka Mr. Money, Rema, Guchi, Victor AD, Broda Shaggi, and Mama Ojo among others.
