Pulse Live Kenya’s Debut Influencer Award Ceremony

Over the years, we have seen the Kenyan entertainment industry adapt to the awards ceremony culture. This has made many creatives acknowledged and celebrated for the good work they do and further opened more opportunities for them. Over the weekend, Pulse Live Kenya held their debut influencer awards that cut across bloggers, fashionistas, YouTubers, podcasters, photographers and the rest of the creative industry as a whole.

This particular event created such a buzz on social media considering it’s the first time an award ceremony has acknowledged content creators from various angles. The Industry Category was well represented as it highlighted; Health & Fitness, Media, Sports, Blogger, Food, Music, Travel & Leisure, Business, Fashion, Arts, Photography, Comedy, Acting, Beauty & Lifestyle and Dance.

The Pulse Kenya Jury released a long list of nominees that was established on the set criteria that guaranteed that those who made it on the final list were perfect for each category. The long-list nominees proceeded into an initial round of voting where each category had 10 nominees. A final shortlist of three nominees per category was then issued and people had the opportunity to vote for their favourites, this then marked the final round of voting.

Crazy Kennar, comedian and influencer bagged the most awards, {Kenya’s Comedy Influencer, Facebook Influencer and Instagram Influencer of the Year} alongside his team that he emphasized are all part of his success.

“Kennar is much more than what you see. My end goal is to leave a positive impact and for me, that has come to pass through making people laugh with my comedy skits and generating employment.  As you can already see, 15 people have jobs because of what I do. Anywhere I can help, even with a single word to a person, I will do it. I strongly believe that if I rise, then let me rise with other people. I’m confident that this is just the beginning of winning more awards. When I bag the Oscar Award, you will remember Crazy Kennar told you so! ” said Kennar during his acceptance speech.

Other winners included Edgar Obare {Blogger Influencer of the Year}, Abel Mutua {Youtube Influencer of the Year} Njugush {Business Influencer of the Year}, Sarah Hassan {Most Influential Actor of the Year} and Boniface Mwangi {Twitter Influencer of the Year}

According to Pulse Live Kenya, the event was aimed at engaging the influencer communities, highlighting the most consistent and impactful creators in Kenya and ultimately help to strengthen the growth of digital media across Africa. Similar ceremonies also took place concurrently, in Pulse Africa’s award-winning and recognized media houses in Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal.
