The RNB wave has never been there in Kenya, we Kenyans are more obsessed with club bangers and songs that make us want to dance all through the night. Some will say R&B is too slow, too many feelings and that has always been an issue to promoters. However, at the end of the day its business.
They say that for you to create a wave and a brand that can pay you and market you at the same time has a risk, its either you do it and make losses and learn from it because lets be honest its new, we have never had Kenyans obsessed with R&B or maybe there are but no promoter is willing to risk it and experiment and see what happens, but that changed with a lady named Faiza Sadique Hersi, the main lady behind the NairobiR&B event that brought us the amazingly talented Masego to Nairobi and had a lot of amazing feedback from everyone being that was her very first event.
The singer didn’t only sing his heart out but played a number of instruments as well but that was just a tip of the iceberg, he went on to make his own beat on stage and made an entire melody and sang with it right on stage guys! Talk about talent.
Faiza said that it was very overwhelming planning the event, everything had to be perfect, She then talked to me about the entertainment industry and how it needed something new, fresh and unique that can capture people’s attention. “I fell in love with R&B when I was a young girl, its just amazing, and I wanted to bring that to our city Nairobi and I still can’t believe that so many people showed up. It’s a great feeling seeing someone cry because she is just so happy and she is enjoying herself to the fullest, that’s an achievement for me” she indicated.
NairobiRnB is not done! Masego was just the beginning and this October 27th she will be bringing Tay Iwar also an amazing singer and performer to come and serenade us with his amazing album.
He will be performing his hit songs space, Monica , sidelines and many more and we are honestly here for it!
Till next time, bye.
